It is with great sadness that today we have learned of the death of one of our greatly loved past Jog Off runners Deborah Croskery.
Deborah took to running like a duck to water and her years of sporting background brought her to us.
We were honoured to have the joy and pleasure of her company in the many challenges and tasks we took to over the years and miles we put in as a group. From the silly tasks to the fundraisers. Deborah always toed the line.

The news today follows the tragic announcement of our very much loved past coach Nikita’s fathers passing just yesterday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with both families during this very sad time.
Both funerals take place this Saturday 29th November.

Please get in touch if you are thinking of going to either one and we will go together.

Rest in peace Deborah - you will always be remembered.

Nikita - God Bless you all x

Jog off was once the home of an amazing group of incredible people 🤍

Whilst we aren’t running together anymore, I know the friendships made within it, became very special.

Deborah - we are sharing this for you and hope that things get better for you. Always there to support whatever cause we were backing - now it’s our turn to try and help you!

Sending all our love and best wishes

This post will be seen by some wonderful people who will have fond and special memories of our incredible little community we built and I know it’s been a while but you are our people!

Many of you know Uel. The most incredible man who very much looked after some of us when the mountain seemed too hard to climb. A man who inspired us when we met on cold wet evenings and continues to inspire us now!

In the link shared one of the loveliest things Uel wrote back in 2017 was “the real big deal is that we’re all just runners and we’ve accomplished a lot, an awful lot”

What a quote - and what a truth!

In 3 weeks Julie & I will join Uel at the start line of the Great North Run Half Marathon

On that day we will run as a family that you were all part of at some stage. If you can donate to Uel’s page it would mean so so much to each of us.

Lots of love
Coach

Today we asked Uel
Q- What is it like to be one of so few males in a largely female running group
A- When I first thought about joining Jog Off I did ask if it was a female only group. Open to everyone, was the reply, but there are only two men at the moment. Fast forward 18 months and there are 4 men (I think, because we never all seem to be there on the same night) and many, many more females.
So. What’s it like being one of so few males in a largely female group? Cue the stereotypes, jokes, innuendo.
In truth, as in any similar situation, the answer depends on the individuals in the group.
What I can say is that I feel privileged to be part of this bunch of runners. I never cease to be inspired and motivated by their enthusiasm and willingness to work for each other. Nobody is ever left behind. Each of them is talented and all of them are focused on improving themselves and helping others to do the same.
There are certainly interesting moments when I’m reminded I’m the only boy. I’m not good at knowing how sports bras work (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it), and I’m not good at social media. And don’t even mention the selfies!
For me, being in a mostly female group isn’t a big deal. The real big deal is that we’re all just runners and we’ve accomplished a lot, an awful lot, in a short amount of time. Now we’re talking about half-marathons. Really?
Did I mention the social aspect? Or the charity work? We’ll leave that for another day. All I know is that I’m still there and I’m still running. Thanks girls. Oh! And boys.

It’s - exercise is the best medicine you can take. A healthy mind is difficult to maintain these days.
Remember to take time out for yourself
Whether you need a nap, a mountain of chocolate, a run, a walk ... do what you need to de-funk!!

As a running community it’s safe to say we use our running to unwind.

Reaching out to all our friends today to remind you that hey, you got through yesterday!
Keep up the good work!!

Sending love to all of you who could do with it today !!

We’re back - and you know what? That’s a little scary...

For the first time in months we are able to meet again in groups of up to 15

We have adhered to government guidelines all along and will continue to do so.

At this stage we are not planning to take beginners classes - Our runners have remained bubbled where possible during lockdown and whilst we look forward to welcoming new c25k runners at some point in the near future - for now we will be existing members only.

The reality is Covid is still very much a life threatening disease to some and we all must continue to do what we can.

Safety is still our number one priority.

The other very real part of this is that we have gotten used to not being together so for some this might be a little stressful and there may be some anxiety associated with returning.

Remember to do what is best for you!

Whatever level you find yourself at right now, if you haven’t given up you’re winning.

** if you are not a current member but can run 5k comfortably and are interested in joining us get in touch for a chat
