EATS Greenspaces - Growing for the Community.

Summer Holidays are back...

So is the Garden Club at the Orchard!

Running through the summer, every Monday the EATS Educates Team will teach new gardening tips and tricks, filled with games and activities.

A perfect programme, designed for Primary school pupils, but all ages welcome. Join us straight after Cafe Inc!

Another warm week in the Community Garden! We're now making regular fresh veg drop-offs to the EATS Hub & EATS Living Room Cafe and it's great to see so many colours in our borders too.

In the polycrub first tomatoes are ripening, baby citrus & fig tree growing, cucumbers and cucamelons climbing, but managing the heat, ventilation and watering in the hot summer weather is still a learning curve. If you live nearby and could help with a spot of watering or opening windows in the mornings or evenings, please get in touch with our Greenspaces Coordinator [email protected].

On this note we are very excited, hopeful and thankful to John for making a great start on the installation of our new drip watering system (more about this soon!) and as always - a huge
thank you to all our volunteers for your hard work, enthusiasm, and teamwork.

We were lucky that the weather stayed dry on Monday, as over 200 people joined us for our Café Inc Big Fun Summer Picnic in the EATS Centenary Orchard. Café Inc is funded by Fife Council and offers free, healthy & tasty meals to children and young people during the school holidays. We do however rely on volunteers to ensure the setting is ready, the gras cut, the food prepared and served, games set up, rubbish cleared, etc. Many thanks to all who helped this week as well as to Angela for providing crafts.

This summer, Fife Gingerbread is also joining us during all of our Café Inc sessions. Fife Gingerbread offers support, advice and a listening ear to single-parent families on a wide range of issues. If you’d like to find out more about the support available, have questions, or simply fancy a chat, come along and speak to them during Café Inc. No appointment needed.

We’re really pleased to have them joining us and making even more support available to local families. 💚

This is too nice a picture from 2 of our most passionate and hardworking volunteers not to share!

Martin Slim and Charlie Neilson picked a wonderful day of weather to come and visit us last week. Both volunteer at EATS Greenspaces in Rosyth, (Edibles And Tasty Spaces), where they have an Orchard and Community Garden, that local community groups and schools volunteer in.

You won’t be surprised to hear that CCI and EATS have plenty in common, especially community spirit and the purpose of making a genuine difference in people's lives!

Connor Lettis, a past CCI volunteer who now volunteers at EATS after moving house, suggested the visit.

“CCI is a great place to come and see for ourselves.” Martin

“We'll spread the word around. We were made more than welcome." Charlie

Everyone contributes. Everyone gains.
