​Built in the mid-19th century, it was once a bustling hub for Clyde steamers and later played a role during WWII (associated with the nearby HMS Varbel midget submarine base). Seeing it decay today is a poignant reminder of how much the Holy Loch’s maritime identity has shifted over the decades.
