Farewell Toyota TS050!

Following the final round at Bahrain last weekend, Toyota announced the retirement of their TS050 LMP1 Hybrid race car.

Originally revealed in 2016, the TS050 delivered Toyota their long-deserved first ever win at Le Mans 24h back in 2018. It subsequently went on to win another 2x Le Mans 24 hrs races- collecting a total of 19 race wins and 4 world championship titles along the way.

was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work briefly with the Toyota team at their factory in Köln, back in 2019. Looking through the archives, I found this video of the TS050 being returned and unloaded at the TMG factory, after winning the 24hrs of Le Mans for the second time. Note the battle scars, dirt and winning gold garland still in place!

The celebrations after this was filmed were an amazing experience to witness, and a fitting tribute to the TS050- an historic car for Toyota motorsport.
