😲 109K / 1.5L Cooper 😲

This 1.5 Cooper first got in touch with us over a year ago. At the time the car was on 96,000 miles and the owner had seen us talking about some of the maintenance items we regularly recommend on the Pre LCI cars. The timing chain and clutch had already been replaced at 61,000 miles but with the mileage steadily climbing he wanted to make sure the car stayed in good health before looking at any performance upgrades.

Now 1 year later the car arrived with 109,000 miles on the clock ready for a bit of preventative maintenance and a custom tune.

Work carried out:
- Spark plugs
- Ignition coils
- Injectors
- Oil and filter service
- Custom tuning

The car arrived fitted with a tuning box, we like to run the car on the dyno exactly as it so we can see what it's actually doing.

The tuning box had given a small increase over stock but the custom calibration completely transformed the car. The biggest difference wasn't just the peak numbers, it was how the power and torque were delivered throughout the rev range.

For a car that's now covered 109,000 miles, these little 1.5 engines continue to impress us when they've been looked after properly. A lot of people assume six figure mileage means the end is near but time and time again we see them still going strong!

The owner later shared the results on the F56 page and the amount of attention the post received was brilliant to see. There were plenty of comments from people surprised by what these 1.5's can do.

A well maintained car, a sensible maintenance plan and a proper custom tune. Sometimes that's all it takes.

The customer left happy, the car drove better than ever and hopefully it'll continue racking up the miles for many years to come.

Today the workshop is closed while we take a well earned day to ourselves.

Over the last two weeks we’ve worked 14 days with just a single day off in between. Running a busy workshop, managing bookings, answering enquiries, carrying out tuning and workshop work, and keeping everything moving behind the scenes means the days can quickly turn into weeks without a break.

As much as we love what we do, it’s important that we occasionally step away, recharge and spend some time with our families and for ourselves. Taking the odd day to reset allows us to come back refreshed and continue providing the level of service that our customers expect.

During this time our phones will not be monitored and we will not be answering calls, messages, emails or social media enquiries.

All messages will be replied to on Thursday when we return.
