RIP to Mum’s traffic cone (see previous post)! In its short life (a week) it was taken under someone’s car on a magical mystery tour around the lanes of Seale, moved from its space more than once by people who had no business touching it, been argued over, and then finally today it was run over by someone and destroyed 🫣 Who would’ve thought something so simple could cause such stress and shenanigans 🫠 Thankfully, we have a replacement cone (Colin) so we go again tomorrow ! If you see him in his space just give him a little pat and leave him be, he’s not doing any harm. Thank you 🙏

Ps I passed all your comments on to Mum last week and she’s very grateful and touched by your support ❤️ We both know how lucky we are to have you all xx

Edited: I’ve had a message to explain what has happened to the cone ! It’s a bit of a complicated story but everything will be sorted out 🩷 What a world we live in !! My mum was given a traffic cone on Saturday for her 80th birthday so she could save herself a space outside the shop she has owned for nearly 20 years and works at 7 DAYS A WEEK. Every morning she gets up at 6:30am to make bread, which she then has to carry from the car to the shop along with shop stock and various bags of paperwork. Quite often she suffers from back pain which makes it difficult for her to do this. Most days she has to park in the middle of the car park so she can unload near to the shop because there is rarely a space free. When she leaves at night in winter it is pitch dark but she still has to reload the car to go home. Last night she popped the cone out for the first time and by this morning it had been stolen. The sign was thrown in a planter. She has just phoned me in tears ! Let me just reiterate that my mother is EIGHTY and works SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. She spends every morning baking bread, she works in the shop all day and spends her evenings making cakes and doing all the shop paperwork. She does all of this because she LOVES her customers and doesn’t want to let them down. I can’t count the times she has stayed up until 1am to make a bara brith order for someone ! The cone was a tiny gesture to make her life a little bit easier and she was excited about having it. The extra kick in the teeth is that Mum was born and raised in Seale. The village and shop have always been her safe place 💔 I hope whoever took it has a conscience and returns it but my faith in humanity is at an all time low right now so I doubt they will. Apologies to all of you who support and care about Mum, it is not usually in my character to have a public rant but sometimes needs must ! We’ve had a tricky couple of months (hence no posts !) and this has just tipped me over the edge 😡

Last night we welcomed 3 lovely ladies (and The Mothership joined in too !) to our very first workshop ! We chatted, laughed, sewed, drank tea, ate cake and compared our crafting stories. The space worked really well and everyone went home with a beautiful pumpkin ! It went so much better than I could have imagined and these ladies were an absolute joy to spend time with. We’re doing it all again tonight and we can’t wait to welcome our next group of workshoppers. I’ll share all the photos tomorrow 🤩

🍁A Catch Up🍁

Hello friends, last week I was back down at the shop carrying on with the revamp and having a general sort out ! You may have seen me diving head first into a cupboard or crawling under a table if you popped in 😅

I finally finished painting the door too and the masking tape is now off, thank goodness ! I can’t show you it, though, because I didn’t take a single photo while I was there. I’ll never make it as an ‘influencer’, will I ? 😂🙄

Can you believe it’s just two weeks now until our very first workshop ? 🎃 The time is flying by but there is still time to book your place ! You can find all the details here

https://sealecraftshop.co.uk/milking-parlour-workshops/

or please do message me with any questions. I’ve left the two sample pumpkins in the shop if you’d like to see them in real life. They’re on the little school desk next to the counter. Mum will show you if you can’t find them 🙂

Today I’ve been finalising the fabrics you’ll be able to choose from for your pumpkin. There are spots, toadstools, pumpkins, autumn leaves and CUTE HEDGEHOGS ! 😍 All very autumnal and something for everyone. Here is a little peek at a few of them. I’m particularly in love with the toadstool one ! 🍄

Admin day in my workroom/office isn’t so bad when everything is pretty ! Fabric jar bonnets will be for sale in the shop next week and the cute mug is by Isla Donald, one of our very talented local potters 😍🌸
