Meet Roxy, a long-stay dog at Northumberland Dog Rescue 🐾

She’s full of energy, but her excitement can quickly become overwhelming — making it harder for her to settle and find the right home.

Our grant has helped the rescue create a dedicated training and meet-and-greet space, so dogs like Roxy can get the one-to-one support they need. From practising loose lead walking and recall to enrichment like sniffy games and simple agility, she’s learning how to channel that energy — and her concentration has come on in leaps and bounds.

She’s even showing off her skills (including dribbling a ball around a cone 🐶⚽) and has a natural talent for agility.

The space is also helping dogs meet potential adopters away from the kennels, in a calmer, less stressful environment — giving them the best chance to make a great first impression and form positive connections.

By supporting both their mental and physical needs, dogs are calmer, more confident and better prepared for life in a home 🏡✨

Because every dog deserves a second chance 💚

A huge shoutout to our very own Pets colleague, Bev, who took on the Snowdon Challenge this past weekend alongside her partner Tim and their four-legged teammate, Moose 🐶

Together, they reached the summit and raised an incredible £810 for the Pets Foundation 🙌

From steep climbs to stunning views (and plenty of wagging tail energy), this challenge is no small feat, and we’re so grateful for your support.

A second chance for Lady 🐾

When Lady arrived at Hector's House Cat Rescue with her 14-day-old kittens, she was in severe pain from mastitis and unable to feed them properly. She needed urgent care, and her kittens needed support to survive.

Thanks to our grant funding for new cat pens, Hector’s House could give Lady a safe, warm and controlled space to recover, while the dedicated team provided round-the-clock care for both her and her kittens. 🙌

With treatment, time and compassion, Lady made a full recovery. Today, she’s thriving in her forever home – and every one of her kittens has found a loving home too. 😻
