We got called to look at a transit custom that the clutch pedal had stuck down and not return back up to is original place along with a pool of fluid that had appeared underneath the van.

After an initial inspection it became evident that the fluid was brake fluid and it was coming from between the gearbox and the engine which suggested it was the clutch slave cylinder that was leaking. We removed the gearbox at our customers place of work to inspect the clutch slave cylinder and confirmed it had failed leaking brake fluid into the bell housing and onto the clutch. We also checked the duel mass flywheel at the same time and found excessive movement which would have caused an issue in the near future causing our customer to have needed the gearbox removing again. We explained this and advised that having it replaced while replacing the clutch and slave cylinder would ultimately save on more labour costs in the future. Our customer opted to go ahead with replacing the flywheel along with the clutch and slave cylinder which got this van back to its former glory and set for many more miles.

Remember all this was done at our customers place of work, this saved on recovery costs and the hassle of having to arrange it all.

Well it’s been a while since we last posted, time doesn’t half fly. Since we last posted I have become a married man, fitted a new kitchen at home and DB Autocare has moved premises so as well as serving our customers as normal it’s been very busy behind the scenes.

Here is a couple of pictures of a BMW 520d that had a leak from its cam cover. We replaced the cam cover and seal at our customers house and cleaned the old leak off. This car is now set for plenty more miles.

Last week seemed to be a brake pipe kind of week.

This was a Range Rover Sport that the brakes had completely failed. This was due to a rear brake pipe completely corroding away and bursting. We checked the other side and realised that one wasn’t far behind. We got on the phone to Landrover and ordered both sides and got them fitted. I took multiple times to bleed this braking system up and getting all the air out but we got there in the end.
