New driveway going in. Please drive slowly and turn slowly in the car park. Costs a fortune and a lot of wasted effort to reform it.
It is also to guarantee heavy rainfall for the course as it will definitely wash it away if we don’t get it bedded in properly!

The original farm entrance to Spofforth Golf Course has been reopened and work has started on building the road we need for future works.
We have explained to many of our golfers that we are reengineering the “old” holes 14 and 15. Last winter we had an open stream running across the fairways from the holes above them and we need to put in new drainage and irrigation.
The whole course needs extensive work if it is to survive devastating droughts like we had last spring and summer and the record breaking wet winter that closed us down for 5 months.
Obviously, doing nothing would just make the course unsustainable but we have taken a different direction.
We believe you can see our commitment to the course with how we have improved its condition and reworked the layout to maintain golf at Spofforth. We believe we can offer top quality golf and other amenities going forward.
One step at a time and we will try to keep you updated with any progress we make.
Today’s drop of rain was helpful and much needed but it was only a thimble full in reality. We need a few nights of steady rain, sunshine during the day and a gentle breeze and our lives will be much easier!
