Oooh, it's a brisk zero degrees here at . There was a thick icy frost on the car this morning and the tops have had their first dusting of the season. Woo hoo! ❄️🤩

Update on our patient ...

After spending a quiet and settled night in our shed, our rescued pheasant appeared much brighter this morning.

Our friend, Liz, took it to the NEW ARC for us, but it wasn't good news.

It had suffered a broken pelvis and was humanely euthanized.

It is sad news, but at least we tried.

Rest in peace little pheasant 🐦

Heard something in the hedgerow this evening on my walk.
On investigation it is a young pheasant, clearly injured.
Went to fetch Martyn, a towel and our cat carrier and rescued it.
It's currently in our shed - away from the cat - with water and hen food.
It's quite active, but it's definitely grounded.
Spoken to the New Arc (North East Wild Animal Rescue Centre) who said to call them back in the morning.
Luckily we know one of the volunteers who works there; she has offered to take it there tomorrow for us.
Fingers crossed it makes it 🤞🐦
