The Tech Booth is fully open from TODAY!

Our workshop in Killamarsh will now be open to customers, in addition to our remote support and collection/ drop off service.

We are resuming our usual opening hours of Monday - Friday, from 10am to 5pm.

Please bear with us as, once again, we are working in a completely different way to ensure staff and customer safety remains our top priority.

We have followed the Covid-19 Secure guidelines to take every possible precaution to keep everyone safe. Staff are now using hand sanitiser regularly and will be cleaning customer devices before and after working on them. Clear signage is in place to enable our customers to maintain social distancing guidelines at all times.

Due to the size of our workshop, we are only able to welcome one customer inside at any one time. If you arrive and there is another customer being served, please follow the signage in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

COVID-19 Statement
Due to the government's instruction for people to work from home, The Tech Booth will be operating, wherever possible, as a remote support service only.

The shop in Killamarsh will be closed until further notice as it is classed as non-essential retail. Our hands are tied as to what we can do and we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause our loyal customer base.

Repairs that are currently in the shop WILL be completed, clients will be contacted individually to coordinate the next steps.

Windows 7 will reach end of life on 14th January 2020.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
• No more security updates or bug fixes.
• No more technical support.
• No support by vendors for new software.
• Malware authors target machines running unpatched OSes.

SO, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
In many cases, the computer you are running may be capable of running Windows 10, and the upgrade could cost less than you think. In other cases, it might be simpler and more cost effective to replace the machine with something already running Windows 10. Bring your machine to our Killamarsh workshop for a free evaluation, where we will check your specifications and provide you with your best option.

WHAT SHOULD I NOT DO?
Do nothing. If you do nothing, you are putting yourself at advanced risk of a malware or ransomware attack.

Microsoft have just released their latest Windows 10 version, 1903, also known as the May 2019 update. As with all major Windows 10 updates, it has a staggered release schedule and as such it could be up to a month before you see it downloading on your machine. As you are probably already painfully aware, the update process doesn't always go according to plan, sometimes downloading at really inconvenient times or coming up with strange, nondescript error messages.

Why not take the opportunity to have you machine professionally serviced? We will clear your machine of all unnecessary clutter, optimise it and apply the 1903 update for you making sure it's running at peak efficiency.
