Are science lessons really suitable for toddlers?
Absolutely!
You might think that your toddler is too young to be learning about science. But at this age children are naturally inquisitive, full of questions about the world around them and have the drive to investigate how things work.
It's therefore a great time to take advantage of this innate curiosity and start channelling their enthusiasm for scientific discovery as early on as possible.
And don't forget that there are benefits to learning science beyond being able to take part in an experiment and discovering scientific principles and facts.
Learning science supports the development of other skills and attributes too. These include; teamwork, perseverance, communication skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills and increasing vocabulary range, to name just a few!
So, why not have a go at a simple science experiment with your toddler at home and see how you get on?

How can I get my toddler interested in astronomy?
Whilst the concept of the atmosphere, the earth and space might seem a little alien (!) to your toddler, there are still ways in which you can start to teach them about the universe.
Try:
1. Reading books that include rockets, space, the planets, the moon and/or the stars.
2. Pointing out the moon on different evenings and explaining to your toddler how it has changed shape and why you may not be able to see it every night.
3. Showing your child the night sky and pointing out the stars (make sure you wrap up warm if you choose to do this outside!)
4. Painting or drawing the moon and the stars or the planets!
5. Including the moon, the stars, rockets, astronauts and/or the planets in your little ones imaginative play.
6. Sing songs such as ""Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"" and ""Zoom Zoom Zoom, We're Going to the Moon.
