International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May because it’s the birthday of Florence Nightingale — the pioneer of modern nursing.

Today is a chance to recognise the compassion, dedication, and skill that nurses bring to care every single day. From hospitals and care homes to community and domiciliary settings, nurses play a vital role in supporting people’s health, dignity, comfort, and independence at every stage of life.

Nursing is more than just medical care — it’s reassurance during difficult moments, advocacy for those who need support, and building trust with the people and families they care for. Nurses often go above and beyond to provide not only treatment, but kindness, patience, and emotional support too.

Spring Is Still In The Air 🌼

On a quiet path, over the Early May Bank Holiday, one of our staff took their dog out for a slow, relaxing walk, no rush, no plans, just time to breathe, a simple walk with a loyal companion.

Fresh grass carpeted the ground, dotted with soft purple violets and cheerful pink primroses, their yellow centres glowing like tiny suns. Broad green leaves of young dandelions spread across the ground. The dog paused often, nose close to the earth, surrounded by wildflowers and new growth, as if taking it all in, for a moment, everything felt perfectly still.

It was one of those simple spring moments that says it all, lighter days, fresh air, and the quiet joy of being outdoors. A gentle reminder that the season of renewal has truly arrived.
