Don’t breath.
That’s the first rule of product photography club.
Patience is the second.
It’s all smoke and mirrors. Have you ever tried balancing lots of beers on a rock? Nope?
Don’t try this at home kids (if you appreciate the hops)

I remember that time when we trecked up Ilkley moor to shoot these product shots for online shop.
Precariously holding 10 bottles and several cans in the hope we wouldn’t trip or fall.
Guess what...
They all survived!
Products shoots really don’t have to be boring.
Sometimes just taking them against the landscape of their origin is a great place to start when thinking outside the box for interesting product lifestyle shoots.

Well it looks like quarantini’s are going to be a thing again 🍸
When the first lockdown hit I had a cupboard full of spirits I had acquired from all my trips through airports. My favourite concoction ended up being tequila and ginger ale, the lazy girls mojito came a close second (lime soda and rum).
What ended up being your quarantini of choice? 🍸

It’s around this time of year that my favourite festival is held, Light Night.
I’ve had the honour of working on this event for different clients over the years.
If you don’t know about Light Night, it’s usually a 2/3 day affair. We have a huge parade through the city where performers all over the world come to dance down our streets. Followed by light and sound art installations dotted around the city in our most stunning spots and venues.
In these dark winter nights I will miss this beacon of light.
Please continue to support your creative communities so these events can still happen

It’s a really good time to build your wedding photography portfolio right now. But what do you do when you can’t shoot weddings because many have been postponed or numbers reduced?
Answer: Practise shooting couples!
Here are my top 5 tips for shooting amazing couple portraits:
1. Get to know the couple before hand. The more they are familiar with you the more at ease they’ll feel
2. Get to your chosen location early and scout the surroundings areas for good spots
3. Try shoot later in the day when the sun in lower and more flattering
4. If you have no choice but bright sunlight find a shaded area
5. Leave your best locations until later in the shoot. When your couple has loosened up a little.
