Another lovely Almanac: Folk Crafts and Culture workshop, once again led by artist Kristina Skei, this time joined by her daughter Meda ✨

Back in the beautiful setting of the newly refurbished Shodfriars Hall, participants explored the craft of Lithuanian straw gardens, creating their own delicate hanging ornaments while learning about the traditions and meanings behind them. The session was made even more special with a taste of traditional Lithuanian tree cake, adding another layer of shared cultural experience.

One particularly joyful moment came when Aldona (87) spotted herself in one of ’s portraits on display, a recognition that brought big smiles and added to the sense of connection in the room.

It was a relaxed, friendly session, with everyone enjoying the chance to learn something new, share stories, and spend time making together.

The Almanac: Folk Crafts and Culture continues to bring people together through artist-led workshops exploring traditional crafts from across Central and Eastern Europe. The programme will soon move to its next stage at , where local heritage and historic collections will inspire new creative work.
