Retropia Retro Lens Review (well⦠the cheaper Amazon version, since I couldnāt find one for a Nikon Z mount).
I loved getting outside with this lens capāit was such a fun change from my usual setup. I normally shoot on a Nikon mirrorless with a 24ā70mm, so Iām definitely not used to getting quite so close to what Iām photographing. In nature, Iād still say I prefer having a zoom lens, but it was really nice not carrying the usual weight on a walk.
The retro vibe is great. It honestly felt like it turned my camera into a point-and-shoot with an analogue feel, especially since thereās no autofocus control. Youāre pretty limited in terms of settings tooāyou can really only adjust ISO, as the camera doesnāt even recognise this cap as a lens.
I had a lot of fun playing around with Kelvin (colour) settings in camera to push that retro look even further so deffo give this a try! (Along with of course, even more grain on my Lightroom presets).
Image quality is obviously lower here, but with a full-frame camera you can still crop in surprisingly well and get usable shots.
Overall, Iād definitely recommend it if youāre looking for something fun, light a something much cheaper thing to carry around on your camera. Personally for me I hate being an obvious photographer with my usual big lens so I think this will definitely get me back using a 40 or 50mm again for holidays and festivals.
I will experiment using a flash with it and will do this soon if anyoneās keen on seeing an image samples let me know ā¤ļø

Letās set the record straight. I may hide behind a brand name, but Bloom Creative Studio isnāt a teamāitās just me!
In the past, Iāve posted using āwe,ā which was misleading. The truth is, I am the whole team. Every hat I wear is just me, micro-managing myself into freelance chaos.
Iām Bryony Jade ā and apparently, Iāve never done an intro post, so here we are!
Iām obsessed with colour in my work (seriously, I live for it), though right now I love deep muted tones. If youāve been in the studio with me, Iāve probably convinced you to go with a full green or pink setāand chances are, you ended up loving it(I hope!).
I shoot from a gorgeous studio in central Liverpool and I absolutely love working with brands, creatives, and anyone looking to capture personality. Just a heads-up: every shoot will probably end up looking quite stylised. I canāt help it, Iām really inspired by fashion campaigns from streetwear to vogue editorials.
Iām here because, letās be honestāshi**y mobiles have taken over, and they just donāt show you how others actually see you. A professional camera hits different. If youāve worked with me, you know how bloody stunn you are!
Also: arms. If Iāve directed you into a pose where your arms felt weird or ānot normalā... itās because I saw an angle or moment that you might have missed. Trust the process. I thought it was time I got in front of the camera for once to know how you all feel. Cringe, I know š
Admin time (because I get asked this loads):
* Bookings are done via email only(I miss DMs please catch me on email).
* Once youāve picked your package from my site, Iāll need a deposit to lock in your date.
* The remaining balance is paid after the shoot.
* I recommend booking photoshoots up to 3 weeks in advance as the studio books up fast!

Show this post some love! If it helps me connect with more amazing people to work with, Iād be incredibly grateful for the support ā¤ļø
