The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession.

Maintaining public trust in engineering depends not only on technical competence, but also on ethical practice.

The Statement of Ethical Principles, developed jointly by the Engineering Council and the Royal Academy of Engineering, sets out five fundamental principles that support ethical behaviour and decision-making across the profession.

By providing a shared foundation for the codes of conduct set out by individual professional engineering institutions, it helps promote consistent ethical standards and supports confidence in engineering professionals and the important role they play in society.

James recently became registered as a Chartered Engineer for Higher-risk Buildings (HRB), drawing on more than 20 years of experience.
