Survivor’s courage leads to 13-year jail sentence for that man that r**ed and abused her

• A 41-year-old man named Aftab Zulfiqar (born 09/03/1985, no fixed address) has been jailed for 13 years.
• He was found guilty of two counts of r**e and coercive and controlling behaviour.
• The sentence was handed down at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 15 April 2026.
• The survivor was in a three-year relationship with him and showed real courage by coming forward to report the abuse, even though it meant reliving the trauma in court.
• He put her through sustained and escalating abuse, controlling every part of her daily life.
• That included deciding what she wore, when she slept, what she ate and drank, who she could speak to, and how she lived, while cutting her off from friends and any support networks.
• His constant demands for contact while she was at work put so much pressure on her that she lost a job she loved, which left her even more reliant on him.
• Zulfiqar r**ed her multiple times during the relationship, exploiting the trust between them and manipulating her into believing the abuse was not r**e.
