9 years ago today I decided to change my life

Today is always a day that fills my heart with gratitude, today marks 9 years without needing a substance to live my life

There’s no more terror, no more harming the people I love, no more horrendous consequences for me or my family

I don’t aim for perfection, and sobriety isn’t always a bed of roses but I just try to do better each day for those who care most about me and it’s made me a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend the people closest to me can rely on and be proud of
