At Post Carbon Lab, we're on a mission with our brilliant team of multidisciplinary scientists & researchers, with combined professional experience of over 100 years 👩‍🔬, to tackle the environmental challenges faced by the textile & colour/finish industries.

We work collaboratively with businesses on R&D projects that use textiles & colours by understanding their sustainability challenges and identifying the most suitable microbial treatments that adhere to their technical performance & impact criteria to support their development.

By employing vegan nutrients from plants & microbes and only necessary green chemical compounds, we have built 3 ways for companies to work with us:
1.Microbial Colouration: exploring a range of colourants produced through cultivating microbes.
2.Photosynthetic Coating™️: our climate-positive coating that fosters a symbiotic relationship between user & textile products.
3.Open-brief Microbial Application R&D: consult us with your interest in the microbial application area and we combine innovative research discoveries to solve your sustainability/technical obstacles.

What does everyone think about COP28?

We’ve received a complimentary Climate Leader Pass to attend COP28 in Dubai, UAE 🌴As a tiny entity working to ameliorate the local climate health, we are flattered & grateful to be given such a great opportunity to engage with other industry & policy stakeholders.

Though it is a wonderful occasion to share our work & vision, it is difficult to disregard the hypocrisy behind hosting a climate summit in a country where 3.2 million barrels of petrol are produced daily (US ITA), which we don’t feel so comfortable endorsing.

We know it’s impossible to solve the climate crisis on one's own, so creating places to make these things happen are crucial. We also acknowledge that there are people who are genuinely involved in climate actions & promoting climate justice at COP28. However, the obvious issue is the conflict of interest.

We chatted with a friend in UAE/Qatar about what the locals think about sustainability. It appeared that there is little interest in stopping/reducing oil-related activities but more focus on developing untapped natural gas reserves.

The rationale is historical, psychological & economic. Developed countries have grown their economy to prosperity thanks to their oil exports, so for them, it is only fair they get to do the same. When they are prosperous enough, they’ll adopt available sustainable elements to change their lifestyle/economy.

If we work collectively & transparently at COP28 to reverse calculate the carbon quota we have before reaching 1.5℃, then dividing that quota evenly to 7.9 billion population to deduce the lifestyle we can have, at least we'll be able to enjoy the final glory equally (which won’t work well because of humanity 🤣)

After all, if we don’t know how much we need to change, why would anyone put themselves through painful changes? If we can't change ourselves, how can we change others? Will we run out of time before real change happens? Possibly, but at least we can say we’ve tried our best 💪😉

We are also very humbled to be one of the Women In Innovation awardees among all the reality-bending, stereotype-defying & passion-fuelled women 🌪

As female founders, we have heard more equality talks 🗣than the equity we actually take in the real world 🌫

We’ve also had our fair share of being dismissed 🫣, disrespected 😑 and automatically identified as subsidiaries 🫥 of other men despite we are the ones in charge.

However, if we stop resisting these discriminations and take the easy step to conform or stay silent, we won’t make any changes 😕 which means more people will continue to be subject to the same frustrations 🥺

At the same time, if we do it altogether, it’s much less scary 😜 Let’s celebrate the International Women’s Day together to empower & thank ourselves unapologetically!! 🥳
