Humankind Hair

Having educated for professional hair brands for over 10 years, founder Anneliese started Humankind Hair in something of a bid to fall back in love with the industry.

‘After working brand side, I was fed up with education for the purpose of sales. Our job was to go into salons every month and convince hairdressers they had a problem - which they may or may not have - then provide them a ‘solution’. This of course would be a new shampoo, colour shade or styling product that they probably didn’t need.’

Feeling jaded, Anneliese considered quitting the industry altogether.

‘Social media had become part of my job, and I enjoyed it. So I studied digital marketing at UAL, thinking I’d have a complete change. But soon after, COVID hit, and the lockdowns gave me time to reflect on how much I really loved and missed doing hair.

I knew in my heart I loved teaching, too, but only when it was honest, inclusive and scientifically sound.

I’d taught alongside another stylist, Harriet, who shared my vision for education, and we started talking about the possibility of starting something new.’

In September 2020, Humankind Hair launched, and sold out every course in under 48 hours.

Now headed up by Anneliese and a team of like-minded educators, courses are available both on and offline, in the London academy, or nationally for salon teams.
