What does it take to become a confident creative facilitator? 🎨
For multidisciplinary artist and actor Jesse Akele, joining Create's Nurturing Talent programme has meant stepping outside her own artistic practice, learning from other artists and developing the skills to lead inclusive creative workshops.
Through hands-on experience working with young carers and survivors of modern slavery, Jesse has been learning how to adapt her approach, respond to different participants' needs and bring new techniques into her creative practice.
As she reflects:
"It's humbling because you're never too good to go back to the basics."
Now in its 11th year, Nurturing Talent supports emerging artists to develop their creative facilitation skills through practical experience, training and collaboration.
In our latest blog, Jesse shares what she's learned so far, the importance of working across artforms and how the programme is shaping her approach to community arts.

🎉 We're so grateful to everyone who supported our campaign. From the 114 donors who gave generously, to those of you who supported our campaign online through sharing, liking and commenting on our posts. Your support helps us bring the creative arts to those who need it most.
🌟 A huge thanks to White Stuff for supporting our campaign, doubling the difference of every donation made.
🎨 This campaign has shown us just how many people value the creative arts as a means for self-expression, improving wellbeing and forming connections. For young carers, these opportunities are so often out of reach. These funds will directly support the delivery of more creative arts projects with children and young people who rarely have time for themselves.
✨ Thank you.

Less than 24 hours to go - and we’re 58% of the way towards our £10,000 target! 💙
Over the past week, we’ve been raising funds to bring more creative opportunities to young carers across the UK.
Through Create’s projects, young carers have dedicated time to focus on themselves: to explore their creativity, express themselves, develop new skills, connect with others and have fun.
We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated or shared our campaign so far. Now, with less than 24 hours remaining, we need your help to get us even closer to our target.
And your support can still go twice as far.
Thanks to White Stuff , donations are being matched £1 for £1 until midday tomorrow.
£10 becomes £20.
£25 becomes £50.
£50 becomes £100.
Can you help us reach £10,000?
