We are thrilled to introduce Rosa Roberts, a remarkably talented artist whose vibrant works we have been fans of for a long time. Born in 1984, Rosa spent her early years on a fruit farm in Norfolk before moving to London during her teenage years. Her passion for art led her to study Fine Art at Central St Martin’s, a journey that has profoundly influenced her unique style and creative vision.

For eight years, Rosa ran a successful business designing and conducting drawing workshops in London museums. However, in 2020, she made the bold decision to pursue her true passion—painting—full-time. This leap of faith has allowed her to develop an extraordinary body of work characterized by bold gestural marks, rich jewel tones, and intricate textures.

Rosa’s creative process begins with observational sketching, whether at home, in her studio, or out in nature. These initial sketches undergo multiple iterations, evolving into the final compositions that captivate viewers with their complexity and beauty. Her travels, particularly a memorable trip to Bali before the lockdown, have greatly influenced her recent works. These pieces reflect her deep connection to the tropics, showcasing tropical motifs, lush plants, and a vibrant palette.

Texture plays a crucial role in Rosa’s paintings. She meticulously builds up her surfaces using cardboard and collage, creating a dynamic interplay between the layers and crevices that form the foundation of each piece. This dedication to texture, combined with her use of pattern and directional marks, imbues her work with a sense of life and movement.
