"Rather than being scared of the future, I am now excited for it and the opportunities it may bring." – Meet Gabby 💜
When Covid hit, Gabby was forced to shield to protect her physical health. But the isolation took a huge toll on her mental wellbeing.
"I have always been an anxious person, but when Covid hit and I had to shield to keep myself safe, my mental health spiralled."
After being referred to The Maypole Project in 2020, Gabby began working with her counsellor. Over the years, counselling has supported her through returning to school, starting university, living away from home, medical operations, bereavement, and even securing her first job.
"I honestly believe I would not have gone to university or have the career that I currently do if it wasn’t for the Maypole Project’s constant support."
Today, Gabby says she understands her anxiety instead of letting it control her. She feels more confident, hopeful and excited about the future.
"For a disabled person living in a world that doesn't always understand the uphill battles, that constant presence isn't just support—it’s absolutely priceless."
This summer, provide a lifeline for children and young people with complex medical needs and disabilities - and the families who care for them. Your support helps us to create a lasting impact for a lifetime.
