THE FIRST BOND CHRONOGRAPH | OMEGA 007 FIRST LIGHT SEAMASTER EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH EVENT
I was delighted to attend the exclusive launch event this evening for the brand-new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M “007 First Light” Chronograph, revealed today alongside the forthcoming 007 First Light video game.
This is the first Bond Diver to feature a chronograph and, in person, it certainly makes an impression. At 44 mm in stainless steel on a NATO strap, the first thing that strikes you is the sheer presence of the watch. It takes up some serious real estate on the wrist, and I initially expected it to feel considerably heavier than it actually does.
What genuinely surprised me was how light and wearable it felt once in the hand and especially once on the wrist. Despite the size, it wears far more comfortably than I anticipated and, personally, I think the proportions work perfectly for this style of watch.
The details are superb throughout, from the polished black ceramic bezel and ceramic pushers, to the laser-engraved wave dial, red “Seamaster” text and bronze gold chronograph accents. Turn the watch over and you’ll also find the FIRST LIGHT logo metallised across the sapphire caseback, tying it directly to the game.
It’s a bold, modern and unapologetically contemporary Bond watch, and seeing it up close this evening alongside the team from OMEGA made for a fantastic launch experience.
What are your thoughts on the new Seamaster “007 First Light”? Too big, or exactly the kind of statement Bond watch you’d want to wear? Let me know in the comments below.
