Issachar is an 18-month discipleship and mentoring programme run by the Armed Forces Christian Union (AFCU) designed especially for serving Christians across the military. It’s a journey of spiritual growth, community and leadership built around deepening your faith, strengthening your walk with Jesus, and equipping you to be a confident, resilient Christian witness in the unique context of military life. The name Issachar echoes the biblical tribe who ‘understood the times and knew what Israel should do’ — men marked by discernment, wisdom and faithful action. This reflects the heart of the programme: to help you not just grow personally, but to become a thoughtful, grounded and impactful Christian leader wherever you serve. Our Vision: Inspiring Christians to transform the workplace and the nation.

Our Aim: To see the UK workplace transformed, locally and nationally, by every Christian living out their faith in effective workplace ministry, leading to transformation over time in the nation's culture, values and spiritual environment.

Our Strategy: To work supportively with individuals, workplace Christian groups and wider professional groups, to:

1. Support and build vibrant and effective workplace Christian groups through mentoring, consultancy and training.
2. Facilitate networking that brings tangible benefits to local and national associations through local, regional and national events.
3. Inspire and equip young adults in transition to the workplace through university, school and youth-related events.
4. Collate and disseminate good news of what God is doing in the workplace.
5. Proclaim with unity and clarity Christian values concerning the workplace by working with the media and influencing policy makers.
