Can you help us solve this archive mystery? 🕵️♀️
These striking artworks might look like otherworldly landscapes or deep-sea creatures, but they're actually illustrations of disease and damage to limbs and organs, mainly in horses, dating from the 1820s and 1830s.
The thing is, we've never been able to identify exactly what we're looking at!

The 2026 Plowright Prize winner, Prof. Katie Hampson from the The University of Glasgow College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences, is at RCVS Day to receive her award.
Prof. Hampson was awarded the prize for her extraordinary research into dog-mediated rabies and her efforts to eliminate human deaths from the infectious disease.
