Alban Rae Home
Alban Rae Home began in Autumn 2024, but the idea had been brewing for years. She found joy in sourcing antique pieces that balanced history with modern living.

Seasonal styling with antique treasures - Alcove Shelves Edition š¤
Iāve absolutely loved restyling the alcove shelves through each collection and change in season over the past year. Always using antique treasures, layered textures and seasonal floral and decor to shift the feel of the space throughout the year āØ

Iām often asked for my Grande RĆ©derie dāAmiens treasure hunting top tips. After 3 visits, this is everything Iāve learnt to help you secure the best treasure, and survive whilst doing it š¤š«š·āØ
save for your next visit š
1. Book early
Central stays go quickly. Stay as close to the market as you can, youāll thank yourself later.
2. Arrive Saturday afternoon
Parking fills fast and roads close. Earlier makes everything easier.
3. Donāt be fooled
Itās called a Sunday market, but the best pieces go from Saturday evening onwards.
4. Come prepared for any weather
Rain or shine, it carries on. Donāt miss out by heading home early.
5. Bring a torch
A good one. Youāll need it to properly check pieces at night.
6. Bring banana boxes
Perfect for stacking and protecting your finds.
7. Bring a cart
Save your arms and avoid breakages. Fill it before offloading.
8. Bring bubble wrap
Not all sellers have it. Better to come prepared.
9. Bring hand wipes
Youāll be digging through dusty boxes all day.
10. Lip balm & hand cream
Small things, but make a big difference over a long day.
11. Drinks & snacks
Youāll easily hit 20ā30k steps. Stay fuelled.
12. Have a price in mind
Know your limit so you can walk away quickly.
13. Donāt be afraid to negotiate
Itās expected. Offer what youāre happy with, and a little French helps.
Happy Treasure Hunting! āØ

The Kitchen details I get asked about most, all in one place š¤

Save for later if youāre planning your own, and let me know if thereās anything Iāve missed š¾āØ

As we get closer to La Grande RĆ©derie dāAmiens this weekendā¦ š«š·š¤
I thought it would be nice to look back at some of the pieces I found there last April on my first sourcing trip abroad, and how I styled them once they made it home.
I canāt wait to see what we pick up this time, and to start imagining how they might live and be used again āØ

When everything sits in a similar tone, itās the mix of shapes and texture that brings it to life š¤
This studio pottery vase was my first auction find when starting Alban Rae Home, and one I couldnāt let go of.
I love it with bold seasonal stems, but these sweet peas keep things soft while still adding interest through their shape and movement āØ

A few favourite seasonal captures š£āØ
I always enjoy styling for the season, but Iāve really loved styling for this time of year - especially weaving in the bunnies and eggs alongside some spring bulbs and flowers š·š¤
Wishing you all the loveliest bank holiday weekend, hopefully you get a chance for a little rest & relaxationš°š„š«āØ

One year of styling the kitchen shelves with antique treasures š¤āØ
Each collection has been styled with the season it was released in, but every piece is chosen to last far beyond that moment. Timeless pieces that can be styled beautifully in your home, whatever the season.
Looking back at them all together, itās so hard to choose a favourite. What would yours be? š¤
