You might wonder what is there new to see on the battlefields of the first world war, two years after the end of the Centenary? Quite a lot as it turns out. Last weekend I attended an excellent familiarisation tour run by business and tourist organisations in West Flanders and the Somme.
Some of the highlights were
A brilliant new observation point overlooking the Ypres Salient.
A new App to interpret a largely unlabelled huge collection of first war exhibits.
A museum focusing on the air war over Flanders
New trenches and explanations
The Yper museum telling of the whole of the history of the city outside the four years of WW1.
Belgian wine (and Beer)
