Yesterday, the UK Government announced a significant extension for the ban on Commercial Property Evictions (known as Forfeiture of Lease) and requirements surrounding Commercial Rent Collection (known as Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery). Though an extension was expected, a further 9 months was a big surprise and extremely disappointing to say the least and it will have a huge detrimental effect on Commercial Landlords throughout the Country, on top of the already damaging financial effect they have suffered!

Currently, there is nothing preventing Commercial Landlords going through the County Court to obtain either a money Judgment to collect outstanding Rent Arrears or an Order for Possession to regain their Commercial Property. We have seen positive results from some of our clients who have already taken this route.
