Something I was asked recently at a meeting was what kind of websites do I like?

As a web developer I have my preferences and recommendations but a lot of the time I go by what my clients want.

I thought I would share some tips I give to my clients when discussing how their website will or might look.

- Easy to Navigate

Sometimes more isn't always better, where possible keep the site simple and the pages relevant to what you want your clients to see.

- Ensure the content is relevant

It is so easy to overload sites with information we think is relevant but a lot of the time it can lead to more questions or frustrated visitors who click off. Make sure you plan out your content and what the purpose of it is, this will help keep it relevant.

- Use colours relevant to your branding

Especially when dealing with WordPress sites I get clients who settle for themes that look good but the colours don't match their branding. Your website is an extension of you and your business so treat it like it and don't settle for less.

- Have your site tell your story

Websites should have an element of a personal touch, sharing your story is a great way for your clients or new potential clients to learn more about you. Why your passionate about your business and why you want to help people.
