In the build-up to International Clinical Trials Day tomorrow. we are celebrating all week and will be posting incredible facts from our Research Team everyday this week! 💙
MTW opened both ‘REMAP-CAP’ and the ‘GenOMICC’ study where both trials were required to recruit patients with a chest infection or an emerging chest infection. These studies were opened pre-pandemic; this meant that the Intensive Care Team were able to recruit some of the first patients admitted for COVID-19 to a trial, thereby offering the patients novel treatments where there was no standard of care available yet. 🏥

The MTW Oncology Breast Team are currently the number 1 recruiter in the world for the PALMIRA study. This trial is looking at different ways of treating advanced breast cancer that cannot be treated with surgery or radiation therapy. The trial focuses on patients that have been previously treated with a drug called Palbociclib as well as an endocrine therapy. Within this trial, the patients will be treated with Palbociclib, and potentially another endocrine therapy, or with just endocrine therapy alone. 💙
