“Sleep by my side forever” ♥️ Samuel Hazo recites “The Ballad of the Old Lovers” at the International Poetry Forum in honor of his late wife, Mary Anne. At age 96, Dr. Samuel Hazo performs all his poetry from memory—as he has his entire career. Last fall, Hazo gave a special performance in honor of the relaunch of the International Poetry Forum, a nonprofit organization that he founded in 1966 and directed until 2009. Pittsburgh’s 600-person Carnegie Lecture Hall sold out for the event. The author of nearly 60 books of poetry and prose, Hazo was a finalist for the National Book Award and served as the first Poet Laureate of Pennsylvania.
