A rare photo of us all together, with our wonderful new tenant! πŸ˜‚

It was a bit of last-minute chaos to get one of our newly renovated flats finished before our new tenant arrived.

There was painting, furniture building, smoke alarm fitting, cleaning... and all the usual last-minute jobs that somehow always appear on move-in day!

Today we welcomed our newest tenant into his new home.

K has been living in supported accommodation with one of our favourite charities, Hope into Action. πŸ₯³

He's now working, volunteers at his local food bank, and is just one of those genuinely lovely people who quietly gives so much back to others. We are absolutely delighted to have been able to offer him one of our own properties.

A little mention for Ian too. He will probably hate this because he is definitely happier behind the scenes! As one of the directors of Yes Lets, Ian is the answer to our never-ending questions. He's definitely the figures man, but he can also turn his hand to just about anything. Whether it's fitting smoke alarms, building furniture, solving maintenance problems or talking me through yet another spreadsheet, he's a huge part of what makes Yes Lets work.

He is calm, incredibly practical, endlessly patient and one of Yes Lets' biggest supporters. We honestly couldn't do this without him.

Days like today are our favourite πŸ’›

Landlords, you already know your lettings fees are paying for a service, but what if they could do more than that too?

At Yes Lets, our professional lettings and block management work helps underpin the affordable homes we provide across Nottingham.

So when you choose us to manage your property, you’re still getting the proper service: compliance, maintenance, tenant find and day-to-day management. But your fees are also helping make long-term, safe homes possible for people who need them.

It’s a different way of doing lettings, and we think it’s a pretty good one.

If you’re a landlord in Nottingham and you’d like your property to have a bit more purpose, send us a message.

This is exactly why we started Yes Lets.

Today has been a mixture of property viewings, inspections, block management and chatting to landlords, but the highlight was a conversation with someone who wants to buy a property for their retirement income and rent it out for social good.

When we set up Yes Lets, we hoped that professional property management and lettings could help create more opportunities for people who need a decent, affordable home. Seeing that happen never gets old.

The professional lets we manage, the block management work we do, the property inspections and the day-to-day running around all help make the social impact side of Yes Lets possible.

If you are a Nottingham landlord, property investor, or you're interested in using property to make a difference, we'd love to chat.

The last few days at YES LETS...

🏠 4 new instructions

πŸ”‘ 4 tenancies agreed

πŸ‘€ Countless viewings

πŸ› Made 6 beds πŸ₯΄

🧹 Cleaned and prepared our HMO

πŸ”¨ Tiled and fitted a kitchen in one of our own renovation projects

🏒 Managed issues at one of the apartment blocks we look after

πŸ“ Valued potential new properties

πŸ’› Supported tenants and landlords

And because nobody's perfect...

❄️ Ordered 4 fridges instead of 2 fridges and 2 freezers

πŸ‘• Ordered 6 wardrobes instead of 5

πŸͺ‘ Ordered 12 chairs instead of 6

Somehow everything is still moving in the right direction πŸ˜‚

Property. People. Social impact. Repeat.

Last week we were invited to hold a seminar at the Hope into Action Conference, to talk about Yes Lets and we were fully booked! πŸ˜¬πŸŽ‰

We spent the morning hearing from tenants across the country and, honestly, what was really heartbreaking but also so inspiring was just how much addiction can take hold of people’s lives and how easily that can happen to everyday people.

We heard so many stories of people thriving when they had the right support around them, but also how easily people can end up back in difficult cycles when support is not quite right, housing is unstable, or people simply feel like another number in the system.

We were asked so many times, β€œHow do we get a Yes Lets in our city?” which was lovely to hear and has us thinking... is it possible?.

Our own tenants, shared their stories of life before Yes Lets and what their lives are like now (thankfully all positive) πŸ₯΅

We had lots of laughs, and the Q&A at the end was full of brilliant questions and encouragement.

That was our third time speaking in public and, surprisingly, we are starting to really enjoyed it.

PART THREE
Sometimes people do not need huge interventions, just a little bit of support at the right time to stop things escalating into something much bigger.

We helped Ben out, covered some rent, spoke openly with the landlord, and just tried to work through things together while he got back on his feet.

One thing we really believe at Yes Lets is that a bit of time, honesty and support can go a really long way.

We genuinely love spending time with our tenants, checking in, making sure people are okay, supporting landlords, and trying to find practical ways through difficult situations together.

Because housing is never just about housing πŸ’›

Thank you Ben for trusting us with your story.
