What a fantastic Big Nottingham Travel Challenge! 🎉
With 500+ participants and 45 businesses taking part, an incredible 11,566 journeys were logged. Even better, 1,689 journeys were switched from single-occupancy car trips to walking or cycling, helping reduce carbon emissions, improve health, and support more sustainable travel across Nottingham.
Today, we celebrated everyone's achievements at the Central Library, where the Big Challenge winners were recognised and prizes were presented. Congratulations to everyone who took part! 🚶🚴

⚠️ Nuthall Road update ⚠️
Our Highways teams are continuing their work on Nuthall Road following the diesel spillage.
Resurfacing works will continue this week, and we're working hard to get the road back open towards the back end of this week.
We want the road to be open as soon as possible like everyone, but the level of damage means a large amount of work is required to get it safely and properly resurfaced.
Since Thursday we've been working hard to get this emergency project underway. So far we've:
👷Reviewed the damage in order to create detailed design work for our contractors as well as work out what quantity of surfacing materials are needed - a LOT since the area to be resurfaced totals 6000m2 or about 64000 square feet
👷We have been identifying and removing the damaged road surface to the necessary depth; 16 loads of material have been removed
👷We must then reconstruct the road (to a depth of 10centimetres in large sections), first with binder course, prior to any surface course being laid
👷Finally, the road receives the surface course layer, which we will begin laying tomorrow, 6000m2 of hot rolled asphalt surface course will be laid, taking approximately 3-4 days.
