Research • Reflection • Real Life
There is an old belief that successful people possess extraordinary determination.
The research tells a rather more encouraging story.
Behavioural scientists have consistently found that lasting change is rarely sustained by willpower alone.
Instead, it is built through small habits that quietly become part of everyday life.
That’s wonderfully hopeful.
It means we don’t need to become different people overnight.
We simply need to begin.
During my many years in education, I noticed something similar.
The children who flourished were seldom those who made spectacular leaps ahead.
More often, they simply persisted.
They read one more page.
Asked one more question.
Tried once more after getting something wrong.
Adults aren’t so very different.
We often postpone beginning because we don’t feel ready.
Yet readiness usually follows action, rather than preceding it.
Perhaps your tiny habit this week is drinking another glass of water.
Taking a ten-minute walk.
Reading a few pages instead of scrolling.
Writing one sentence in a journal.
Telephoning someone you’ve been thinking about.
None sounds particularly remarkable.
Yet remarkable lives are rarely built through remarkable days.
They are built through remarkably ordinary choices, repeated faithfully over months and years.
Brick by brick.
Choice by choice.
Day by day.
⸻
Today’s Research:
Studies of habit formation suggest that small actions linked to an existing daily routine are far more likely to become lasting habits than ambitious resolutions that rely solely on motivation.
Tiny actions, repeated consistently, often produce surprisingly large results.
⸻
From My Notebook:
I’ve come to believe that people rarely change because they suddenly become different.
They change because they quietly become consistent.

Something to Notice Today:
What one small habit would your future self quietly thank you for if you repeated it every day for a year?

Evening Thoughts ….
Tomorrow morning marks a new beginning for YesYesSuccess.
Over recent months I’ve spent a great deal of time reflecting on where this page is heading.
From tomorrow you’ll begin to notice something a little different.
The same connection.
The same encouragement…….
…….but with an even stronger foundation in thoughtful research, lived experience and gentle reflection.
My hope is that YesYesSuccess becomes a place you enjoy visiting - not because life is perfect, but because together we can better understand it.
Thank you for being here.
I’ll see you tomorrow morning for the very first page of our new journey.
Sleep peacefully, my friend. ❤️

Preparing for a Gentle Week …..
I’ve often noticed that the happiest weeks rarely begin with the busiest Mondays.
They begin with thoughtful Sundays.
Researchers studying stress have found that uncertainty can be more tiring than hard work itself. When we take even a few quiet minutes to think about the week ahead, our minds often become calmer because we’re replacing vague anxiety with gentle intention.
That doesn’t mean planning every hour.
It simply means asking ourselves a few kind questions.
What matters most this week?
Who needs my attention?
How will I care for my own wellbeing?
What can wait?
Over many years I’ve realised that calm isn’t something we discover accidentally.
It’s something we quietly create.
Not perfectly.
Simply consistently.
Tomorrow I’m beginning something new here on YesYesSuccess.
We’ll be exploring life a little more deeply.
Drawing on psychology…
education…
research…
and everyday experience.
My hope is that each day you’ll leave with one useful idea and one encouraging thought to carry with you.
Thank you for walking this journey with me. ❤️
I’m looking forward to beginning.
Today’s Research Reflection:
People who regularly pause to reflect before a new week often feel more in control and experience less stress than those who simply react to whatever arrives.
Perhaps five quiet minutes this evening will be one of the most valuable investments you make all week.
Margi’s Notebook:
A gentle week rarely happens by accident.
It grows from gentle beginnings.
Enjoy your Sunday afternoon, my friend. ❤️

Happy Sunday, my friends. ❤️
Preparing for a Gentle Week
We often imagine that calm arrives when life becomes less busy.
But calm is rarely something we stumble upon by accident. More often, it is something we quietly create.
A few minutes of thoughtful preparation can reduce that vague Sunday-evening feeling of “there’s too much ahead” and we can turn it into something more manageable.
Not a rigid plan.
Not a perfect week.
Just a gentler one.
Ask yourself:
What matters most this week?
Who needs my attention?
What can wait?
And what do I need in order to stay steady?
Today’s Research Reflection
When we reduce uncertainty, we reduce mental load.
A simple weekly pause can help the brain stop rehearsing unfinished decisions.
Margi’s Notebook:
A gentle week rarely happens by accident.
It grows from gentle beginnings.
Something to Notice Today:
What one small decision could make this week feel calmer?
See you again this afternoon. ❤️

The Joy of Ordinary Things
There is a quiet myth that happiness arrives only when something extraordinary happens.
Yet research into wellbeing consistently points in a different direction. The people who report the greatest life satisfaction are often those who have learned to notice the ordinary pleasures that surround them every day.
A warm conversation.
Fresh flowers on the table.
A favourite chair.
A walk beneath summer trees.
A letter from a friend.
A favourite recipe shared with someone you love.
These moments rarely make the headlines, yet they quietly become the fabric of a well-lived life.
I’ve often thought that contentment grows rather like a garden. It isn’t created by one magnificent bloom, but by many small moments of care, repeated through the seasons.
Perhaps that’s one of life’s gentlest lessons.
Don’t overlook today’s ordinary blessings while waiting for extraordinary ones.
Today’s Research Reflection
Researchers in positive psychology have found that people who consciously notice everyday pleasures often report greater wellbeing than those who continually pursue larger achievements.
Margi’s Notebook
A beautiful life is usually built from beautifully ordinary days.

Enjoy your weekend, my friend. ❤️
Take time to think about you and your best self.
You are allowed to begin again.
Not because you failed.
Not because you gave up too easily.
But because you are wiser now than you were when you started, and wisdom deserves a fresh page.
I have begun again more times than I can count.
A new direction emerged in my forties, and it has moved forwards with me.
From there, I sensed a deeper kind of courage that I would not swap for anything the world might have offered me in my twenties.
There is a phrase that I return to often - not from a business book or a motivational poster, but from the Psalms: “Behold, I make all things new.” It is not a promise made only to the young. It is made to anyone still breathing, still willing, still here.
The culture we live in celebrates the first attempt and the overnight success…..
……….yet the most interesting people I have ever met are those who changed direction, learned from experience, and grew into something even better. Life was an adventure for them, especially because they were open hearted and flexible with new opportunities that presented themselves.
Starting again does not mean your past was wasted.
It means you have gathered enough wisdom to build something far truer to who you really are.
What would you begin again if you gave yourself permission?

As the week closes, breathe.
R-E-L-A-X!
Leave behind what no longer serves you.
Choose something during this weekend that restores, rather than exhausts you.
Read.
Walk.
Laugh.
Pray.
Garden.
Cook.
Be with those you love.
A beautiful life is built in moments like these.
A question to ponder in your mind …..
What are you most looking forward to this weekend? ❤️

What does legacy mean to you?
It may not be what you think.
Legacy isn’t about fame.
It is about influence.
The encouraging words.
The kindness shown.
The child loved well.
The friend supported.
The wisdom shared.
Your legacy grows quietly every single day.
Here’s a question to ponder …..
What are you giving to the world that will outlast you?
03/07/2026
Take a moment to notice what has gone well so far this week.
The meals prepared.
The patience shown.
The difficult conversation handled with grace.
The encouragement given.
All of these small victories count! ❤️
Celebrate them.
They matter.
They really do matter, be a they affect your mindset.
Here’s a little question to ponder….
What are you especially proud of this week?
What big things, and what little things?
