โ๏ธ Solar performance powered by SOL A-Frame. ๐
ICB Projects supplied the waterproofing system and the SOL-A Frame system for a large warm roof refurbishment at the P1 Plastering Shop in Cheltenham, installed by McDonnell Price Roofing.
The existing felt roof was upgraded with a new warm roof build-up featuring 200mm PIR insulation and an alwitraยฎ Evalonยฎ V single ply membrane, improving both thermal performance and long-term waterproofing protection.
To prevent ponding, the installation included bespoke box gutters and Type S outlets, while EVA drip trims provided a clean perimeter finish. The majority of the roof was also fitted with Solarfix bars, allowing for future solar PV integration without penetrating the waterproofing system.
ICBโs SOL-A Frame was specified for this project to provide the optimal angle for the solar panels, which were secured using rails and clamps. The system prioritised quick and easy installation while delivering maximum performance, making it the ideal solution for this project. โ

Happy World Green Roof Day! ๐ฑ
To mark the occasion, we'd like to celebrate the many green roofs across our cities and coastlines that support biodiversity, improve urban environments, and mitigate climate change.
One of our projects that showcases the potential of green roof systems is our Innovation Hub at Durley Chine Beach, where a biodiverse green roof was installed to create a thriving habitat for wildlife while demonstrating the practical and environmental benefits these systems offer.
Today is a reminder that green roofs are more than just an aesthetic feature. We hope that World Green Roof Day continues to raise awareness of the role they play in creating more sustainable environments. ๐

This story fascinating example of how green spaces can be integrated into healthcare environments.
A new intensive care rooftop at King's College Hospital in south London is the first of its kind in the UK, and Hollie Allan is the first to be cared for safely outdoors, with all the support she needs. ๐ ๐
Its space is enough for six patients, with power and oxygen supplies connected to each patient's bed. It means that patients like Hollie can spend several hours in the outdoor ward at a time.
Research has shown that access to fresh air and natural environments can improve patient well-being and even help reduce hospital stays. These canopies and garden spaces, filled with plants and flowers, have been designed to support this. ๐ฟ
Could we see more healthcare facilities incorporating green spaces into their designs in the future?
'I forgot what it's like to be outside': Intensive care ward opens on rooftop The outdoor ward, at King's College Hospital in London, will monitor how much it boosts the recovery of seriously ill patients.
