Today, as the nation marks Trooping the Colour and celebrates His Majesty The King’s official birthday, we’re reflecting on a story that means a great deal to Morrish Homes.

As the story goes, His Majesty, then The Prince of Wales, was passing our Stoborough Meadow development near Wareham when the homes caught his eye. He asked his driver to stop, knocked on the door of one of the homes, and asked who had built it.

That moment led to Morrish being invited to pitch for work at Poundbury, the pioneering Duchy of Cornwall community built on principles of traditional architecture, walkability, mixed use and a strong sense of place.

Most recently, that relationship has continued through The Hamlet at Poundbury, a flagship collection shaped with direct design input from His Majesty The King and inspired by heritage, sustainability and timeless design.

Many years later, we are proud to have played our part in Poundbury’s story, helping create homes and streets shaped around quality, character and community.

Wishing His Majesty The King a very happy official birthday.

Light, space and a layout that just makes sense.
At Mountbatten Park, it’s those simple things that make a home feel right.

Today is World Bee Day, a reminder of the small but important role bees and other pollinators play in the world around us.

Every Morrish development has bee bricks built in, one of the simple ways we help make space for nature, creating small habitats that support solitary bees within the places we build.

It’s a small detail, but one that says a lot about how homes and communities can be designed with wildlife in mind.

Some homes feel considered from the outside in.
At The Hamlet in Poundbury, that starts with the materials, local stone, traditional detailing and even thatched roofs, all shaped by long-standing craftsmanship.
It’s a small collection of homes set around a central green, designed to feel settled from the very beginning.

What kind of details make a home stand out to you?

This Mental Health Awareness Week is centred around action, the small, everyday steps that help protect and support good mental health.

At Morrish Homes, we take this seriously both within our own team and across the wider construction industry.

We are proud to continue supporting Lighthouse Charity, which provides free emotional, physical and financial support to construction workers and their families, 24/7.

Within our team, we also have trained Mental Health First Aiders who can offer support, listen without judgement and help signpost people when they need it.

Good mental health is not just something to talk about once a year. It is shaped by the actions we take for ourselves, for our colleagues and for the people around us.

Whether it’s checking in with someone, taking a proper break, getting outside, or asking for help when you need it, small actions can make a real difference.

This week is a reminder that awareness matters, but action is what helps create real change.

There’s something about this time of year that draws people back outside.

Allotments start to come to life again, a bit of planting, a bit of planning, and the simple routine of tending to something over time. At Nansledan, spaces like this are part of everyday life, not just something you visit occasionally.

Have you ever grown your own, or is it something you’ve always meant to try?

We are incredibly proud to have officially opened The Hamlet at Poundbury, unveiling an exclusive collection of just six individual homes. The thatched and traditionally-crafted homes are set around a central green with a thatched lychgate.

Our flagship development, which had direct Royal involvement in its design, is unlike anything we have previously delivered. The Hamlet also presents the final opportunity to purchase a thatched cottage within the Duchy of Cornwall’s renowned Dorset development.

Eugene Rapson, Morrish Homes’ Joint Managing Director, said: “We are incredibly proud to officially open The Hamlet, which represents a truly special collection of houses for Morrish Homes. Individuality has been at the forefront of every design decision, resulting in properties that are all completely distinct in their layout, character and appearance.

“We have also incorporated several personal touches. The owl motif on the lychgate is a tribute to Steve Morrish, affectionately known as the ‘wise owl’ by the family, while the house names reflect places he loved to visit - Studland, Corfe and Lulworth to name a few."

Communities take time.

Looking back at places we built years ago, now settled and full of life, is always a reminder that good homes are about more than day one.

Do you ever drive past somewhere you used to live and feel that pull of familiarity?
