Sharing meals I’m eating for

Yesterday we had cauliflower curry.

Very simple, just soften some onions with some spices. I used coriander seed powder, chilli powder, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin.
Once softened I whizzed in the blender.
I blanched the cauliflower, then fried in the used onion pan, with a little garam masala, add the sauce in with a tin of coconut milk & simmered until it all reduced & cauliflower soft.

I severed with boiled rice, keeping it simple.

I’m attempting again this year.

Cooked a banana oat bake this morning for breakfast hopefully it last for tomorrow too, but dates taste really good, so kids might be eating it & it might end up being part of lunch!

It was just -
Two ripe bananas
A large tablespoon of peanut butter
Teaspoon of cinnamon
A scoop of vanilla plant protein powder
A sprinkle of chia seeds
A sprinkle of pumpkin seeds
Couple of cups of oats
About 100ml of oat milk.

I gave it all a good mix & baked in oven for half an hour.

It is that time of year again to wish everyone a happy holidays & switch off socials for a few days.

As I’ve said many times, Xmas has never been my favourite time of year. However, I’m one of the lucky ones. I have a fridge full of food, a roof over my head & I’m spending the next few days with the ones I wanted to spending them with.

Spare a thought for those not as lucky as us & if you’re able try to do something about it. The smallest gesture can often mean the most!

It has been an eventful year. A week in hospital, a new job, plenty going on!

See you all on the other side!

I was planning on getting back to running over the Xmas break.
For the first time in 6 years I’m able to have holiday over Xmas & have a few days off.
No rugby for a month, so a few free Saturdays for parkrun.
My ankle which I turned at the start of September is feeling stronger.

So how do I prepare, less than 10 mins in to Saturdays game I hyperextended my knee, popped my hamstring. I thought just a strain, bruising so bad yesterday I spoke to 111, they suggested a trip to hospital. Spent most of the day there today. An x-ray & check over at UTC & it is low grade tear.
No running for 4-6 weeks, no rugby for 8-10! Physio rehab needed!
I’ll target the last home game of the season 11th April, for a rugby come back (even more reason to organise a vets game). Hopefully re-start couch to 5km before the end of January.
Let’s go the whole hog & see if I can lose the 10-15 kg I need to & have put on since starting my new job in March.
A delayed start but 2026, could be a big year!

We hosted at yesterday for a friendly & I had to step up as coach & take the whistle.

An interesting experience & not one I want to repeat too often.

I do have a new found respect for refs. You can’t see much at the breakdown, nothing at the scrum & being moaned at all game really isn’t fun!
Everton who plays any sport should have a go at being a ref/umpire, it would definitely make grassroots sport more respectful!

Being a friendly helped. Do not want to be doing league or cup games when the result matters.
