With very hot weather across Lancashire this week, please take extra care and look out for others.

• Avoid direct sun between 11am and 3pm when temperatures are highest

• Use sunscreen, wear a hat, and drink plenty of water throughout the day

• Keep your home cooler by closing blinds or curtains in sunny rooms, and opening windows when it’s cooler outside

• Check in on friends, family and neighbours who may be more affected by the heat

• If you’re venturing out, pack a picnic and avoid disposable BBQs, which can easily start grass fires in hot, dry conditions

• Never leave anyone (or pets) in a parked vehicle, even for a short time

• If you’re cooling off, use supervised swimming pools, like our search dog Fozzie. Open water may look inviting but can be dangerous, even in hot weather

Heat can affect people quickly.
If someone shows signs of heatstroke and does not recover after cooling down, call 999 immediately.

Please share this with friends, family or neighbours, it could help someone who needs it during the heatwave 💛
