When we are under psychological stress, this often leads to muscular tension, as this tension is our body’s way of protecting us from harm. This is our sympathetic nervous system at work. The initial aim of massage is to convince the brain that it is safe, and that it’s okay for the parasympathetic nervous to take over, and put us in a state of relaxation.

These are just some of the many ways we can all benefit from sports massage therapy.
I always encourage clients to try to be active, but what I love about sports massage is that it isn’t simply for “sporty” or “active” people, as life itself is an activity, that places demands on our bodies and minds every day, no matter how we live it.
I will be expanding on these benefits in future posts, so look out for that in the coming days!
