International Day of Hope was yesterday, we aren't thinking about abstract ideas or inspirational quotes.

We're thinking about girls.

Girls who once believed their period was something to hide.

Girls who sat quietly because nobody had ever told them their questions mattered.

Girls who thought shame was normal because silence had always surrounded them.

And girls who now know something different.

That their bodies are not a problem to solve.

That their voice deserves to be heard.

That boundaries matter.

That education is powerful.

That their future belongs to them.

Over the last decade, across 10+ nations and 5 continents, we have watched hope become something tangible.

A girl walking back into school with confidence.

A classroom conversation that replaces fear with understanding.

A Dignity Kit that removes a barrier standing between a child and her education.

A lesson that helps a girl recognise a red flag before it becomes a crisis.

Because hope is not passive.

Hope is a girl staying in school.

Hope is a survivor finding healing.

Hope is a child discovering she is worthy of dignity, safety, and opportunity.

Hope is prevention.

Hope is protection.

Hope is a future that remains open.

And while we celebrate 55,000+ girls reached, we also remember the millions of girls who still need access to education, menstrual health resources, trafficking prevention awareness, and the confidence that comes from knowing their worth.

That is why we continue.

One moment changed everything.

Deborah was only 10 years old.

Like countless children around the world, she set out to do something ordinary. Something routine. Something that should have ended with her safely returning home.

Instead, her life was changed by an act of unimaginable violence.

The statistics around child abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking can sometimes feel distant. But Deborah reminds us what those numbers really represent.

At the Mercy Center, Deborah was given something every survivor deserves: time.
