The sun can be strong enough to cause sunburn even when it is cloudy.
If you are going outside:
➡ Seek shade.
➡ Cover up with light, loose clothing.
➡ Wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
➡ Use sun cream with at least SPF 30 and 4 or 5 star UVA protection. Reapply it regularly.
If you feel unwell in the heat, use NHS 111 online or call 111. In an emergency, call 999.

During hot weather, homes can heat up quickly.
To help keep your home cooler:
➡ Close curtains or blinds in rooms that face the sun.
➡ Turn off lights and electrical items you are not using.
➡ Open windows when it feels cooler outside than inside, if it is safe to do so.
➡ Move to a cooler part of your home if you can, especially for sleeping.
If you or someone else feels unwell in the heat, use NHS 111 online or call 111. In an emergency, call 999.

Some people are more likely to become seriously unwell in hot weather. This includes older people, babies and young children, pregnant women, people with long-term health conditions, and people who live alone or may find it harder to keep cool.
A quick check-in could make a real difference. Ask if they are keeping cool, drinking enough (unless a healthcare professional has advised otherwise) and have what they need.
If you or someone else feels unwell in the heat, use NHS 111 online or call 111. In an emergency, call 999.
