The Cost of Love: Rugby Art Museum and Gallery presents joint exhibition by artists Charlie Kirkham and Robert Walker 19/04/2026

Article in Warwickshire World with all the gossip about the latest two person show- with Robert Walker (theartistrobert), we’ve previously shown together in Gloucester and Los Angeles and it’s going to be fabulous sharing our mythology themed works next month at Rugby Art Gallery.

The title is ‘The Cost of Love’ and the paintings ask how high that cost can be via mythology, allegory and reinterpretation.

It’s a strange, bittersweet feeling 🐉

After nearly four years of deep exploration, I’m finally painting the last dragons in the series.

It feels like saying goodbye to an old friend.
You know you’ll meet again, that new adventures await, and yet a little part of you stays behind as life moves forward.

This journey has taken me through folklore from every corner of the globe ✨ dragons as guardians, spirits, monsters, and divine beings.

I’ve discovered dragon holes in architecture, basilisks, leviathans and countless stories where these elusive creatures appear.

These final pieces are like love letters 💌
I’m savouring every brushstroke, knowing they won’t dry in time for the May show… they’ll linger in the studio a while longer, resolving while their sister works head out into the world.

You can catch the finished dragons from 19 -30 May , where I’m exhibiting with Robert Walker 🎨
