What a brilliant day for our ladies team at Selby CC softball festival!!! An amazing win against hosts Selby and a very close 2nd game against a strong Eastrington!!! Well done to everyone involved 👏🏻🏏🩷

A superb all-round performance from our 2nd XI saw us claim a convincing home victory over Thorpe Willoughby 2nd XI yesterday. 💙🏏

After losing the toss and being asked to field, we made the perfect start by dismissing both openers very cheaply. From there, our bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings, taking wickets at regular intervals and never allowing the visitors to settle.

Natasha Rowley was the standout performer with an outstanding 4 wickets, well supported by Scott Coates (3), Brad Howard (2) and Rhys Howard (1) as Thorpe Willoughby were bowled out in just 26 overs.

Our reply didn't get off to the ideal start as we lost both openers early, but Leo Howard took control of the chase with a composed, unbeaten 51. He guided us home comfortably as we reached the target in just the 12th over to seal an excellent win.

A fantastic team performance with both ball and bat. Well done to everyone involved! 👏

A tough day at the office for our 1st XI away at Colton Institute CC yesterday.

After losing the toss, we were put into the field, and it proved to be a difficult afternoon. A combination of missed chances and dropped catches allowed the hosts to build a commanding total of 293.

Despite the result, there were still some standout performances. Imaan Ahmad was outstanding in the field, taking four catches, while the wickets were shared between Jordan Richardson (3), Jake Watson (2), Nathan Coates (2) and Harry Knight (1).

Chasing a big target, we found it tough against a strong bowling attack. However, opener Johnny Cockerill produced a superb innings, battling all the way through to the 37th over for an excellent 93. George Baybut also made a solid contribution with 27, but it wasn't enough as we fell short.

Not the result we wanted, but we'll regroup, learn from it, and look to bounce back stronger next week.

Our Sunday XI were on the road to face Heworth 5th XI, winning the toss and electing to bat first.

We made an excellent start, with Jake Watson scoring 19 before Jordan Richardson retired on 33 and Nathan Coates retired on 32. Edward Johnson top-scored with a fine 37, while Josh Nickerson (20) and Harry Knight (22) made valuable contributions as we posted a competitive 204.

Heworth's reply began just as we had hoped, with Jake Watson removing one opener for just 4 and Harry Knight dismissing the other for 11. Unfortunately, their number four produced a superb innings of 104 to put the hosts in a strong position.

Jesse Holmes eventually ended his excellent knock, while Scott Coates and Tom Holroyd both picked up two wickets apiece. Despite a determined effort from our bowlers and taking the game right to the end, Heworth held their nerve to edge home in a thrilling finish.

A disappointing result, but plenty of positives to take from a strong batting display and a game that went right down to the wire.
