We’re delighted that ‘Sheffield of Stories’, the centrepiece of our Alternate Realities Exhibition this year, will be featured in the The National Videogame Museum's ‘Together We Play’ exhibition - which is open from Saturday 18th July! 👏💛
⛏️Designed by Adam Clarke, Sheffield of Stories features an online Minecraft world depicting the city, which was co-built by audiences across Sheffield DocFest and ‘The Big Sheffield Build’ exhibition at the National Videogame Museum.
Plus, hear young people’s memories and dreams of the city, which are woven into this fictional-real portrait of Sheffield.

Centred around explorations of family and familial legacies, this year’s selection features 3 contemporary award-winning documentaries and 3 special archive presentations, including Roberto Rossellini’s 1940 short documentary “Undersea Fantasy”, and the new film ‘I Want Her Dead’ from , whose film GEN_ celebrated its UK Premiere at Sheffield DocFest 2025.
Each film will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.

We caught up with Christian Cargill, director of WOLF, to discuss what it means to see your film have its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest!
WOLF, which saw Tilda Swinton guide us through the life of British musician and close friend Patrick Wolf, captured the hearts of festivalgoers this year, and we were privileged to welcome Christian to Sheffield to share the celebration of their film.
