We are delighted to welcome Declan Fisher to the Lightmain team as our new Business Development Apprentice!

As part of the onboarding process, we thought we’d get a “professional” headshot sorted… which turned into approximately 6 attempts courtesy of our other apprentice, Lucas Rushton.

Credit to them both for persevering through the different takes (swipe to see them); it was very much a team effort. Safe to say we eventually got the shot.

We’ve been asked what surfacing type works best for playgrounds.

And the answer is… there isn’t just one.

Every playground might need a different type of surfacing. While appearance matters, selecting the right surface goes beyond aesthetics; it also depends on safety requirements, durability, and the specific needs of your play area.

Here are two popular options we recently installed:

✅ For the first project, TigerMulch was chosen, which is a great option for playground safety due to its impact-absorbing and non-slip benefits.

✅ The second project features Wet Pour, which is popular for its smooth finish, vibrant colours available, superior shock absorption, and customised play graphics.

Sheffield's Double Six youth club has just undergone a remarkable £1.5m transformation, and we're proud to have been part of it.

Founded in 1966 and based in a former church in Woodseats, the club has been future-proofed for generations to come. Alongside major building upgrades, we supplied and installed the new outdoor multi-use games area (MUGA), giving young people a space to play football, basketball, and badminton.

The results speak for themselves, 170 new members have already joined since reopening. It’s brilliant to see a community facility like this thriving.
