The Inclusive Tutor Guildford

Some students find writing stories tricky and this isn’t always through lack of ideas or creativity - they can get bogged down in the small details rather than advancing the action. A good example of this is getting lost in a dialogue between characters. This evening I worked with this dyslexic Year 5 pupil who is an incredible storyteller but struggles to complete his written work in the time allocated in class. I showed him how he can advance his story through using his characters thoughts and feelings rather than getting stuck in a long dialogue. Some really fantastic work from this articulate and wonderfully imaginative young man :)

Super work this evening with this Year 6 pupil who is dyslexic and struggles with remembering grammatical terms and uses. We looked at pronouns creating cards to help with categorising and spelling. As always, he loves a bit of healthy competition so we made a game of sorting them against the clock.

An intense game of Fraction War with my pupil in this session! We use playing cards to help us randomly create fractions, the pupil must then find equivalents and compare.
