Hi Everyone!
My name's Graham, I'm 42 years old, and live on the borders of Surrey and London.
I live with my partner of 8 years and I'm a machine operator and setter for a small engineering firm in Surrey. Job wise, I’ve done a fair few things over the years, warehouse work, driving, retail, but currently in engineering, making parts for trains and been at my current job for the last 10 years, earning around 25k a year, by working 50-60 hour weeks doing as much overtime as I can, trying to save for a deposit to buy somewhere, and save for our future.
But I'm so fed up that even with doing all these hours, I still struggle to put by as much as I would like to in savings. Don't get me wrong, it's an ok job, really helpful with all the overtime (but again means lots of hours - ouch!) and never really any shortage of work.
A couple of years back I realised that I still could do with some extra cash to pay bills, have a holiday, have a bit of spare cash etc, so I decided to find a part time job delivering takeaways for a Chinese restaurant near by, as well as doing my full time job, so pretty full on really.
But the reality of it all is, I still find myself still not really being able to afford to put enough money aside as I would like to, to help make things easier for our future.
I needed to try and find another way of being able to earn some extra cash without doing to many more hours! I've been looking around online for a while now, just for something different to do, nothing specific, I just wanted a change from the routine of it all and to maybe earn some extra money for my family, rather than making money for somebody else all the time, also to cut back on hours, to have more time to do the things we enjoy, if it lead into something a bit more permanent, well, then that would be good too.
One day I landed on a link on a page, watched a video and I saw someone share a story that was similar to my own and I learned how they got out of that situation, and what they did to take control of their freedom, it really inspired me to take action. It was about 7 months ago I saw that, and took action myself, I’m now about 6 months into it and I'm actually seeing results.
And now, with the income I'm beginning to generate, by actually taking this action myself, I'm able to see there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The support and mentor-ship that I've had, the inspiration that its given me, the community I’ve experienced is just unbelievable. Its like a whole support group that just wants to help everyone do well.
Thanks for reading my story.
Graham.
