It’s official! 🎉
After four wonderful years of working and co-owning the practice, we are thrilled to share that we are now the sole owners of Watchfield Opticians!
Following Ian and Wendy’s retirement, the practice is still remaining 100% family-owned. 💙
While it’s a big milestone for us, it’s business as usual for our patients. You can expect the exact same dedication, consistency, and high-quality continued care you’ve always trusted us with.

After years of dedicated care, Ian and Wendy are officially stepping into retirement.
While they will be dearly missed by everyone here at Watchfield Opticians, we are incredibly excited for their next big adventure. From traveling the world to perfecting the art of doing “as little as possible” 😂, they’ve certainly earned every bit of it!

🕶️ A Look Back in Time: Meet Ian & Wendy! 👓
With retirement just around the corner, we took a moment to sit down with Ian and Wendy to look back on their incredible journeys and create a little time capsule of memories from their careers in optics.
We asked them the big question: How did it all begin?
Ian’s Story: As an A-level student, Ian loved a bit of everything—physics, chemistry, maths, biology, and even art! Not wanting to drop any of his favorite subjects, he discovered that optometry perfectly blended them all together. He headed off to university, and the rest is history! 🎓
Wendy’s Story: Wendy’s path into optics came a little later in life. Once her children started school, she took on a part-time role at Boots Opticians. Her passion grew from there, leading to years of hard work and dedicated study in London to qualify as both a dispensing optician and a contact lens optician. 💼✨
It’s been an incredible journey, and we are so grateful for the dedication and care they have poured into our community’s vision over the years.
